Using Frames in PhotoSpills
Custom frames are a way to place your photos in unique frames.
This lets you put a special caption on each photo or to have
your photos displayed as sport trading cards.
Although we won't cover it here, you can create your own custom
frames by using the Frames -> New custom frame
command from the main PhotoSpills menu.
There are two ways to use your custom frames.
Some design templates allow for custom frames and all matrix collages
can use custom frames.
Custom Frames with Designed Collages
The above collage uses the baseball stadium template which
is designed to used custom frames.
You can start your own custom frame poster
by picking File -> New designed
spill from the main menu.
That will display the Spill Designs window.
The upper left corner of that window lists the Styles of collages
that are available.
Select the Custom Frame style.
The sample above shows the available Landscape collages
that use custom frames.
Setting orientation to Portrait will display a different
set of designs.
After picking the design you want, click on the Ok
button.
The Select Frame panel will be displayed and
you will be asked to select the custom frame set you want to use.
The names in the list will be for the custom frames you created.

You are then put at the Finishing Touches window.
When you created your custom frame, you had the opportunity to associate the
frame with a photo list.
If you did, you will automatically have that list being used for your
collage.
If your custom frame had captions for this photo list, the captions
will be included in the collage.
You can change the selected photo list to another list, a folder or
newly picked photos.
Matrix Collages with Custom Frames
This above collage used custom frames with a matrix.
You can start your own matrix collage by selecting File ->
New matrix spill from the main menu.
A new window is displayed for you to design the matrix you
want to use.
You can use any number of rows and columns in your design.

When your matrix design is completed, click on the Use
custom frame set in the lower left corner.

PhotoSpills will then ask you to enter the name of the frame
set you want to use.
After selecting a frame, complete your matrix design to
advance to the Finishing Touches window.

If you originally picked a photo list for your custom frame, you will
automatically have that list now being used for your collage.
If your custom frame had captions for this photo list, the captions
will be included in the collage.
You can change the selected photo list to another list, a folder or
newly picked photos.
